Simple Keurig Kcup Coffee Recipes

Be the hostess with the mostest by making unique Keurig K-cup coffee recipes.  Little will your guests know that they are simple to make and easy on the wallet!

Up this week...A Keurig Kcup Americano.

The Americano is a classic coffee house drink and perhaps the easiest to make.  A classic Americano is prepared with 2 shots of espresso and approximately 12 ounces of water. In my Keurig Kcup homemade version we will be using a Dark Magic extra bold dark roast Keurig Kcup coffee.

You will need:
2- extra bold, dark roast Keurig Kcups
12 ounces of water

(seems silly to even type that out it is so simple!)

Brew both of your Kcup coffees on the lowest water setting of your Keurig brewer into one large mug. Top with approximately 12 ounces of hot water (dont worry too much about measuring- just fill it to the rim).

Viola,  you have an Americano.  Can you believe that is all there is to it?!

Keurig Kcup Kuick Review- Southern Pecan

We are all busy,  that is why we choose to use a Keurig brewer in the first place.  We don't have time to read long drawn out descriptions of K-cups using strange coffee snob terms that we don't understand.  We are here to offer you quick reviews of Keurig K-cup coffees that will actually tell you what the coffee or tea tastes like so you can find you favorite or a new K-cup coffee to add to your collection.   Have we made purchasing Keurig K-cup coffees easy or what?!

Ready? Let's get started.

Up this week...Southern Pecan Keurig Kcup Coffee.

Southern Pecan Keurig Kcup coffee made by the Kcup empire- Green Mountain coffee is a flavored, light roast coffee.

I promise not to use the word nutty in this review.  Yes,  it tastes nutty but,  really don't we all know that already? It is the combination of that taste with a buttery accent and a light coffee all coming together that gives this coffee its unique, pleasant taste.  The taste is smooth,  the feel is light.  This is a true light roast coffee offering some translucency in the cup.

I brewed this Kcup on the lowest water setting of my Keurig brewer. I prefer a medium- dark roast coffee.  I wanted to taste this coffee and give an accurate description without being turned off by the light roast trait.  I added a tiny, I mean very tiny dash of milk:

I would recommend this coffee to a light roast drinker and to those who prefer a mild flavor taste in their coffee.  The pecan flavor is enhancing rather than overpowering, a quality I love. If you prefer a dark roast coffee,  this is not the one for you.  I would choose this coffee for and afternoon cup or after dinner when I would choose something a little bit lighter on the pallet.

We have added a new feature to our Keurig Kcup Kuick reviews- an original recipe using the Kcup featured in the recipe.  This weeks recipe is is Southern Pecan Pie (with a kick)!  To view the recipe click here.

Keurig Kcup Kuick Review

Ready? Let's get started.

Up this week... Wolfgang Puck Creme Caramel Coffee.

I am a very lucky coffee lover,  I get to taste a new flavor or roast every week that I normally would not have tried.   I am a very routine person,  I do basically the same thing every day,  I get freaked out if my day changes at all... I am just weird like that.  If I were not reviewing coffees I would drink the same Cinnamon Roll Kcup every day for the rest of my life!

This week I was especially glad that I have committed myself to the challenge of trying every Keurig Kcup.  Wolfgang Puck Creme Caramel coffee was a very pleasant surprise.

Creme Caramel is a light roast, flavored coffee.  The key part to enjoying this Kcup in my opinion is to brew on the lowest water setting of your Keurig.  This was a complete fluke discovery,  my normal larger mug was dirty,  being too lazy to wash it,  I chose a smaller mug that only had enough room for a small brew.  Wow what a difference that made.  A little less water produced a much more satisfying cup of coffee.  Check out how nice and dark it looks in my mug:

And with milk:

That is one good looking cup of coffee!

The caramel flavor was pronounced but, pleasant.  Caramel proved to be a great accent to the natural flavor of coffee.  It was so rich and thick.  You know that feeling you get from the first sip of great coffee in the morning-  like an itch that needs scratched?  That is the feeling I had.

I would recommend this Kcup coffee to flavored coffee drinkers,  you can really taste the caramel but,  it a pleasant flavor that does not completely over power the taste of the coffee.

I learned from this tasting to embrace light roasts by using less water-  rocket science huh? I am so excited because it opens up a whole new world of possibilities!

Keurig Kcup F.A. Kuick Answers

Welcome to Keurig K-cup F.A. Kuick answers,  no fuss no muss just straight forward simple answers to your most frequently asked questions.

Up this week...how to descale your Keurig brewer.

As a Keurig owner you should already be in  the habit of descaling your brewer every other month or possibly more often depending on your usage. If you are not doing this... start today. This is not a cheap piece of machinery and really how would you live without it?  Keep your precious Keurig functioning properly and producing delicious Kcup coffee by scheduling periodic maintenance and using bottled water to brew your coffee.

Descaling is also a great trouble shooting tool.  Most issues that occur can be solved by descaling. The best part is... it is so easy!

All that you will need is a cup of distilled white vinegar.  Pour the vinegar into your water reservoir and perform 2 brew cycles.  Now,  walk away and come back in four- five hours.  I generally do this right before bed and let it sit overnight.

Next fill the water reservoir with bottled water and perform water only brew cycles until you can no longer smell the vinegar.

Viola,  you now have a nice clean, happy Keurig brewer : )

Keurig Kcup Kuick Review

Ready? Let's get started.

Up this week... Twinings Winter Spice and Christmas Black Keurig Kcup Tea.

I chose to review both teas at once since they are along the same genre and are both only available for a limited time.  I want to help you decide which one to choose (maybe both!) by comparing and contrasting these two very different teas. The differences are apparent right away in the mug:

Christmas tea is a black Ceylon tea resulting in a dark rich appearance that would be great with a dash of cream.  Every time I have brewed this blend there has been a foamy layer on the top in my mug,  I don't know if this is good or bad but,  I personally enjoyed it.

In comparison, Winter Spice is a Camomile producing a translucent golden tea,  this is the kind of tea that I would love to relax with on a cold, winter evening.

I was so intrigued with the difference in these teas I decided to take a look inside the Kcups:

As you would imagine the Christmas Black Keurig Kcup tea is a fine dark tea,  with natural cinnamon and clove flavors that I could smell immediately when I removed the foil top. The Winter Spice has a grassier appearance with subtle apple flavoring highlighted by cinnamon, cloves and cardamom.

In summary, I would describe Christmas Keurig Kcup Tea as a mild black tea with hints of spice.  I would drink this as a breakfast or mid morning tea with a dash of cream.

Winter Spice Keurig Kcup tea is a true Camomile minus any flowery taste.  Rather it has a very mild apple pie aroma and taste.  I have developed a habit of drinking this as a comfort tea to wind down after a stressful day.

Keurig Kcup F.A. Kuick Answers

Welcome to Keurig K-cup F.A. Kuick answers,  no fuss no muss just straight forward simple answers to your most frequently asked questions.

Up this week...Why am I getting coffee grinds in my cup?

In most cases if you are seeing coffee grinds in your mug after a Keurig brew it is simply a case of grinds being trapped in the brewing needle.  This tends to happen after a hot cocoa or Keurig tea has been brewed. The best way to prevent this issue is to always run a water only cycle after brewing a tea or hot cocoa. But,  if it is too late and you have not taken this preventative measure never fear, it is very simple to fix.  You need one very important tool:

Thats right,  you guessed it,  a paper clip straightened on one end.  Once you have your tool ready to go,  it is time to perform surgery.

Locate the the brewing pin on your Keurig brewer, it can be found in the top half of the brewing basket.  Push the straightened end of the paperclip into the needle and move it around to attempt to loosen any lodged grinds or debri.

After clearing out the brew needle with the paperclip,  run 2-3 water only brew cycles.

Your Keurig brewer should now run free and clear of coffee grinds!
