Keurig Kcup F.A. Kuick Answers-

Welcome to Keurig K-cup F.A. Kuick answers,  no fuss no muss just straight forward simple answers to your most frequently asked questions.

Up this week...can I use milk in my Keurig brewer instead of water?

You may think this is a silly question but,  believe it or not it is a question I have seen several times.  The answer is absolutely, positively, without a doubt- NO! This is a sure fire way to destroy your brewer and void the warranty.

In fact you should never use anything in your Keurig brewer that was not original intended by the creators of the Keurig.  This narrows it down to filtered water and Kcup coffees with the Keurig seal.   Anything else is going to cause a less than stellar cup of coffee, damage to the machine and again a voided warranty.

Was I clear enough on this topic?

Keurig Kcup Kuick Review- Green Tea

We are all busy,  that is why we choose to use a Keurig brewer in the first place.  We don't have time to read long drawn out descriptions of K-cups using strange coffee snob terms that we don't understand.  We are here to offer you quick reviews of Keurig K-cup coffees that will actually tell you what the coffee or tea tastes like so you can find you favorite or a new K-cup coffee to add to your collection.   Have we made purchasing Keurig K-cup coffees easy or what?!

Ready? Let's get started.

Up this week...Celestial Seasoning Green Tea Keurig Kcups.

I chose to review Green Tea Keurig Kcups this week because it is that time of year that we all pledge to live healthier lives. Drinking more water is always a  huge factor but,  did you know that tea can be pivotal in your quest to lose weight or to just get healthy?  Especially Green Tea!

There are dozens of Green Tea supplements on the market.  You can add large amounts into your diet by simply popping a pill.  I say,  why not consume the real thing?  Too often we look for a quick fix but,  in this case drinking pure Green Tea is easy enough already, there is no need to pay a fortune for a man made substitute!

Green Tea is an acquired taste to some,  others of course love it! However, Celestial Seasonings has rectified that issue by adding a small amount of White Tea to their Keurig Kcup to provide a smoother taste that will appeal to the masses.

I was curious to see what Green Tea actually looks like so,  I opened my Kcup to see what was inside:

Interestingly enough it is quite literally GREEN tea.  Similar to Black Tea which is actually black,  who would have thought?!

I chose to brew my tea on the lowest water setting of my Keurig brewer to get a rich cup of tea and truly get a feel for the taste in all its glory:

The result was a golden/ brownish tea with a grassy smell.  I have seen green teas that are literally green after being brewed,  I am now quite sure that is artificial coloring. The grassy smell is probably not my favorite scent in the world but,  it is however, what I expected from a Green Tea.  The taste is slightly acidic but oddly smooth at the same time.  It lingers on the tongue for longer than expected. It is refreshing and invigorating and I feel healthier already!  There is no sweetness whatsoever to this tea.  You can of course add your favorite sweetener but,  I do have a healthier alternative-  Celestial Seasoning also offers a Green Tea Kcup flavored with Pomegranate.  It supplies an all natural punch of sweetness and makes drinking Green Tea a bit more tolerable to those that do not enjoy the taste.

Now,  I have big goals.  I want to drink several cups of Green Tea per day to enjoy all the health benefits in full.  In order to do this I chose to also try an iced version of this Kcup:

To brew over ice, simply fill your glass to the rim with ice and brew on the lowest water setting of your Keurig.  Viola,  you have a lovely all natural glass of iced tea. The ice obviously waters down the tea significantly.  I found this much smoother to drink,  The refreshing aspect of the tea is amplified.  I did not feel that any sweetener was necessary but,  you may.  I am thrilled with this discovery.  I have alway been a bit turn off by iced teas that sound like such a great alternative to soda meanwhile they are loaded with sugar, artificial sweeteners and artificial flavors.  I think this will be my new with dinner drink!

I have a quick side note,  Celestial seasoning also make a decaf version of this tea.  You do have to be careful to not consume too much caffeine-  remember-  everything in moderation!

Have you integrated Green Tea into you New Years health regimine?

Keurig Kcup F.A. Kuick Answers

Welcome to Keurig K-cup F.A. Kuick answers,  no fuss no muss just straight forward simple answers to your most frequently asked questions.

Up this week...are there any calories in Keurig Kcups?

Most Keurig Kcups are calorie and sugar free.  Chances are the one you have selected falls into this category however,  there are a few that do have sweeteners and calories.

Right away I can tell you that all of the brew over ice varieties have approximately 60 calories as well as the Cafe Escapes line of specialty drinks.

A good rule of thumb is first to look at the name.  If it contains the words mocha or latte most likely it does have calories.

Second, read the box.  If there is no nutrition information listed- its calorie free.

Third,  look at the color when you brew it.  If it looks like a plain black coffee,  you are free to drink as much as you would like without affecting your diet!
